As a performer, Prince Diabaté
is available for concerts, private and corporate events and studio work.
He can perform with his acoustic ensemble of 4-5 artists or as an acoustic
duo.
His instrumentation includes
the following:
- kora, kamelen n'goni, vocals
- acoustic guitar
- balafon (trad.xylophone)
- traditional guinean drumset, gongoman (trad. thumb piano)
- Plus the occasional addition of flutes/saxophone (as required)
His professional engagements include performances at festivals,
concert halls, museums, clubs, schools, universities, colleges and house
concerts.
His college campus performances include (in California) UC San Diego;
UC Santa Barbara; Occidental College; Santa Monica College; UCLA; San
Diego State University, Pasadena City College;Scripps College(Claremont
Colleges;) Harvey Mudd College;College of The Canyons and Moorpark Community
College; also (in Washington State) Edmonds College and Walla Walla
College.
Traditional Artist
As a traditional artist, Prince Diabate teaches private kora classes
and gives lecture-demonstrations at colleges and universities.
Some of his academic clients include (in California) UCLA; CSUN; CSUF;
UC Riverside; CSU San Marcos; UC San Diego; Occidental College; Santa
Monica College and Chapman University. Also, Columbia University (Center
for Ethnomusicology) in New York city.

2007 - The song "Herakoura"
from the latest album, "DJERELON,"
won the Global Rhythm Magazine/Sonicbids
Song Contest for July. The song appeared on the Global Rhythm
sampler CD in their July issue.
